Secure Centralized Management
The CMS6100 is a powerful central management system (CMS) that monitors your network of distributed console servers and their managed devices, enabling you to identify and resolve IT infrastructure problems before they affect critical business processes.
The CMS6100 solution will manage a large computer room with a hundred racks of gear, or an enterprise with two hundred branch offices. Simply install a CMS6100 appliance and it will monitor and control the distributed networks of Opengear console servers and device servers installed in the racks or wiring closets.
Secure SSH tunnels are automatically set up and the configuration for each console server's managed devices, users and alerts is uploaded. No time wasted reconfiguring. Realistically you can have central monitoring up and running in an hour.
Open Access from Anywhere
These SSH tunnels can be initiated from consoles servers that are isolated behind secure firewalls. Remote access to their attached devices is then tunnelled through the CMS6100. So, over the Internet, you can easily control remote computers and other IP enabled equipment and smart devices that are located behind a router or behind a firewall - without reconfiguring the router or firewall.
Alerts may be raised in the event of a disconnect or environmental problem being identified at a remote site. The manager once notified simply points their browser to the CMS6100 to remedy the situation. With a point-n-click they are securely connected to the downstream console server, or to the appropriate managed device for maintenance, reconfiguration or power cycling.
The CMS6100 appliance has the popular open source
Nagios at its core. Nagios is preinstalled in 1RU hardware appliance, so there's no additional hardware cost, nor time wasted with set up. The CMS6100 can monitor and manage up to 255 distributed console servers with more than 1000 managed hosts/services.
Like all Opengear solutions, the CMS6100 Monitor is open and extensible. The core Nagios software is familiar to many system managers, so it can be custom configured and extended with the thousands of Nagios add-ons.
