Configuring a managed UPS? The Network UPS Tools embedded in the console servers enable you to manage UPS hardware. NUT can be configured and the UPS hardware managed using the Management Console interface described in this FAQ, or you can configure the tools and manage the UPSes directly from the command line A Managed UPS is a UPS that is connected by serial or USB cable to the console server. The console server becomes the master of this UPS, and runs a upsd server to allow others to monitor its status (such as slave servers that are drawing power through the UPS)
To add a UPS that the console server will manage select the System: UPS Connections menu (which will display all the Managed UPS that have already been configured) and click Add UPS. Note: For serially controlled UPS devices you first must have allocated the relevant serial port on the console server to UPS usage (by checking UPS Settings on the Serial & Network: Serial Port menu for that serial port).
To configure the UPS enter a UPS Name and Description (optional) and the UPS login details. This Username and Password will be used solely for UPS management and they are not related the Users and access privileges you will have configured in Serial & Networks: Users & Groups. Then select the Driver that will be used to communicate with the UPS. Check Log Status if you wish the status from this UPS to be logged and Enable Nagios if using Nagios central management. Click Apply You can also customize the upsmon, upsd and upsc settings for this UPS hardware directly from the command line
Refer Network UPS Tools for more info on the UPS management tools now embedded in the IM42xx, IMG4xxx and CM41xx families of console servers |
